Visitors will now be able to view the Canvey Island Heritage Centre Museum every Thursday from this week 27th February 2015.

This will be courtesy of the Needlework Group who will also be in attendance for a new regular meeting.

All visitors will be welcome, whether they wish to view the exhibits or wish to meet up with the needle workers.

 

Teas and Coffees may be purchased in the Centre.

The recent Busy Bees group meeting welcomed a half-dozen members of the Sampler Guild based in Berkshire.
The Sampler Guild visit on a regular twice a year basis and have built up a friendly relationship with the Canvey group of stitchers.

The Busy Bees meet up at the Heritage Centre once a month on a Saturday and visitors are welcome whether to simply chat about sewing and stitching or to view the museum.

Exhibition at the Heritage Centre 12th October 2013

On the 11th August 2012 the newly renovated East Window was dedicated to the memory of Reverend and Mrs Fleetwood, the last Vicar of St. Katherines Church.
The dedication Ceremony lead by Rev. Marion Walford was accompanied by speeches by the Reverend Fleetwoods’ son David Fleetwood, and Don Maclean.

Followed by the unveiling ceremony.

Whilst Ray Howard spoke of his memories of the church and Rev. Fleetwood.

This was followed by a buffet laid on by members of the Needlework Group.
Also in attendance was the Reverend Fleetwood’s Grandchildren.

The newly renovated stain glass West Window was unveiled by Castle Point Mayor Councillor Jackie Govier on the 20th August 2011.

In attendance were the Heritage Centre Committee and members of the Needlework Group.
